We discovered this mother and baby owl sitting on a tree branch on a Philips integrated circuit labeled V7191 that was made around 1990. This is the same chip that sports a medieval castle (that we believe is the Hamburg, Germany city symbol) near the company logo and copyright date. George Ellis of Philips informs us that this chip was part of the SAA7191 digital multistandard video decoder, a discontinued device that required a separate analog-to-digital converter to digitize analog video signals and then convert them to equivalent digital component values. This device, produced at the Philips fab in Hamburg, was the first "square pixel" decoder and was produced at the request of Apple Computer.
